It’s the hardest job I’ve ever had. But also the most rewarding. It’s been a little under three months, but it’s everything I could have wished for. Thank you Margot for making me a mom. I’ve never been so tired yet so happy and fulfilled all at once. 🥹 You’ve taught me so much already and I can’t wait to see what’s next 💞

Copenhagen Light Festival

blurry lights from lille langebro

It’s no secret that the winter days can be dark and damp in Copenhagen. The days are short, all the Christmas lights have now gone, and the temps aren’t usually low enough for us to get snow. The snow helps brighten the sky, so without it can seem really dark. Making it through January feels like you should win an award, especially this year as we have been in lockdown. But come February 5th, the city lights up again for the Copenhagen Light Festival. Probably the only festival not cancelled this year.

The start of this February was especially cold, I’m talking three pairs of pants, four shirts, hats, gloves, and a thick jacket kind of cold. Now that the weather has taken a turn for the better, it’s a must to get outside and check out the CPH Light Festival before it’s over. There are installations daily from 5pm to 10:30pm  until February 27th. You can see a map of all the installations here.

What is it?

The CPH Light Festival is a series of light installations that encourage people to play and explore the winter cityscape in surprising ways. These temporary installations play with light, color, and movement; interacting with the famous squares, spaces, and buildings that Copenhagen is known for.

How much does it cost?

It’s free! In past years, there were guided tours and canal tours that you could take. Due to COVID this year, it’s all free and self guided.

Where is it?

The festival is primarily in the center of town, indre by. The official website has an interactive map on their site. You can choose a few different guided routes depending on how long you want to walk around for.

Tip: You can take the harbor bus from Teglholmen to the Opera House  (or vice versa) to see all the installations that line the water.

Hope you enjoy!
