This past year we have all done our fair share of cooking. Personally, I have gone through different periods of time where I have been more inspired than others in the kitchen. As we enter a year plus in the pandemic, I can’t remember the last time I went out to a restaurant. While takeaway is an option, I find that we’ve found comfort in sticking to our favorite spots and menu items.
As I’ve adjusted to life at home, cooking 3+ meals a week, I have also found I’ve craved new and exciting options that are still healthy. Thanks to Marley Spoon, I have been able to try new recipes and foods that I normally would never have bought at the grocery store. Marley Spoon was founded with a mission to provide locally sourced, pre-portioned ingredients to eliminate food waste while inspiring you to cook yourself in six-easy steps.
Check out my highlight on IG for making it!
One of the reasons I also fell in love with this brand is the transparency about ingredients and nutritional information. I like to know exactly what I am putting into my body and as a type-1 diabetic, it is important for me to count my carbohydrates. For each meal they list all the nutritional information and in an easy to read format. This has helped me take the guesswork out of cooking, which has been really nice. They also list all the allergens as well.
My Go-To Recipes:
You can select what flavors and foods you like to get a customized list of meal items! I chose vegetarian and fish for us as I struggle to incorporate lots of veggies into our diet and wanted to get inspired by new recipes.
- Tarte with asparagus and truffle (vegetarian)
- Halloumi with apple-onion chutney
- Zucchini pancakes with goat cheese (vegetarian)
Q+A:
I posted a Q+A about Marley Spoon on my stories and wanted to answer them here for you as well!!
Q: You love to cook, why did you choose to do this vs. doing the meal prep yourself?
A: I was chatting with my friend from home who said she loved these types of services because she felt inspired to try new food combinations that might not have occurred to her. Lately I feel I have been making the same thing over and over, so I am so excited to try something new. I am most excited about Halloumi with apple-onion chutney.
Q: Is it just for people in Denmark?
A: No! Marley Spoon is offered in many different countries, including DK, USA, Germany, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands, and more!
You can use my code for Denmark here for 150kr off of your first two boxes (split between the two).
You can use my code for the USA here for $20 off your first 4 orders!
If you are from one of the other countries, feel free to reach out and I can get a code for you as well.
Q: How long do they take to make?
They are all 6 easy steps, some take a bit longer than others but on average around 30 minutes. You can see how long they take to make when you make your meal selection.
Q: What ingredients do you need at home for the meals?
The meals come with most of the ingredients pre-measured for your convenience. Some of the recipes did require salt, pepper, sugar, oil, and other pantry staples. Before selecting the meals for your box it tells you exactly what you need at home (both pantry and equipment), which I found useful. I had everything already on hand.
Honestly, I didn’t know how much I would love a meal-kit service! It has not only been a huge time-saver allowing me to have a more relaxed evening, especially after nights with Danish class, but it also has inspired me in the kitchen again!
If you need any help with ordering, don’t hesitate to reach out. I can’t wait to hear what you think about Marley Spoon.
